Experimental Study of Drilling Forces of GH536 Superalloy
A single-factor test is designed to investigate the influence of drill diameter d,spindle speed n and feed f on the trend of drilling force and torque during drilling GH536 superalloy. The test results show that the drilling force and torque are positively correlated with the drill diameter and feed, and negatively correlated with the spindle speed.A three-level,three-factor orthogonal test is designed to further analyse the effect of each drilling parameter on drilling force and torque. The method of extreme difference analysis is used to conclude that the most significant influence on drilling force and torque is the drill diameter, followed by the spindle speed and finally the feed. The orthogonal test data are substituted into the empirical formulas for drilling force and torque in exponential form to obtain the values of the parameters in the re-vised empirical formulas, resulting in a new empirical formula for the drilling force of GH536 superalloy.By comparing the experimental values with the calculated values,it is found that the average error in both drilling force and torque is around 10%,so the established empirical formula for drilling force is of reference significance for the actual drilling of superalloy GH536.
