Cutting Performance Research of Coated Tool in Cleaning Hard Drilling of Ultra-high Strength Steel
In order to improve the cutting performance and reduce tool wear in the process of drilling ultra-high strength steel in hard state,42CrMo ultra-high strength steel is drilled with coated tools in dry, cold air and liquid nitrogen, and the cutting performance and tool wear mechanism of coated tools are studied to explore the feasibility of extending tool life under clean hard state drilling. The research shows that both cold air and liquid nitrogen cooling can improve chip breaking and chip removal ability, reduce drilling force and drilling temperature, and prolong tool life. The main wear mech-anisms of coated tools are adhesice wear, abrasive wear and oxidation wear. This research can provide theoretical and techni-cal guidance for the clean drilling of high-strength and high-hardness materials.
