Study on Turning Performance of 45 Steel with Mineral Oil/Castor Oil Mixed Emulsion
In order to reduce the pollution of mineral oil cutting fluid to the environment in industrial production and further improve the cooling and lubrication performance,a new type of mineral oil/castor oil mixed emulsion is prepared, and it is compared with mineral oil emulsion and castor oil emulsion under the condition of flood and minimal quantity lu-brication( MQL) for turning 45 steel. Based on the fluctuation of force, the stability of the cutting process is analyzed, and the cutting force and cutting temperature are measured, the wear morphology of the rake face is observed, and the lubrication mechanism of the mixed emulsion is analyzed. On this basis, the influence of mixed emulsion concentration on the cutting performance of the cutting tool is further analyzed. The experimental results show that under flood and minimal quantity lu-brication( MQL) conditions, the mixed emulsion has the best cooling and lubrication performance. The reason is that under the same lubrication conditions, mineral oil and castor oil in the mixed emulsion form a synergistic lubrication film with good antifriction effect at the tool chip interface, which improves the stability of the cutting process and reduces tool wear. At the same time,it is found that the cutting force, cutting temperature and tool wear area gradually decreased with the increase of the concentration of the mixed emulsion. When the concentration is 20%,the mixed emulsion has the best cooling and lu-brication performance, and the cutting performance of the tool is significantly improved.
