Comparative Study on Cutting Performance of High-speed Machining Printed Circuit Board Tool Coating
Coating technology is an effective method to improve the cutting performance of cutting tools and reduce costs. In this paper,PCB diamond-coated milling cutters with different process parameters are prepared, and the performance of cutting aluminum substrates is compared, and the influence of the film thickness modulation ratio of fine crystals on tool life and the comparison of diamond coatings with diamond-like carbons are analyzed. The results show that the film thick-ness modulation ratio of fine grains has a decisive influence on the cutting life of the cutting tool. Under the experimental parameters, the modulation ratio of microcrystalline (MCD) and nanocrystalline (NCD) is only 60 meters when the modu-lation ratio is 1:2. When the modulation ratio is 1:1:2,the tool life can reach 90 meters without cutting, and the failure mode of the tool is mainly abrasive wear. Under the condition of multi-layer film, the impact resistance of the coating is in-creased and the phenomenon of unsharp edges caused by micro-crystals is reduced.
