Influences of Cutter Design and Installation Parameters on Overtravel for Power Skiving Tools
Due to the high machining efficiency and precision for internal gears, power skiving has attracted widely at-tentions and perform preliminary application on the gear manufacturing in the field like new energy vehicles and aerospace. For the part with tight retract room requirement like internal gear with step structure and multi-gear shaft,interference-free the key of successful machining. However, the existence of shaft angle between power skiving tool and gear part and the complex spatial generating relationship between cutting edge and gear slot surface lead the calculation of overtravel of power skiving tool is difficult. Therefore, through calculation of generation curve for power skiving, the identification method of overtravel of power skiving tool is developed, and the influence of the cutter geometric and installation parameters on the overtravel are investigated, providing theoretical guidance and technical support for the interference analysis, tool path con-trol,and tool optimal design of power skiving under compact tool retraction space constraints.
