Chinese Modernization and the Transformation of the Global Development System
China is becoming a key force in shaping the international system.The impact of Chinese modernization on the transformation of the global development system is an important dimension in examining China's influence on the international system.Currently,the problems of the Western-led global development system are becoming prominent:western modernization theory has failed to guide the developing countries in modernization;the politicization of foreign aid has weakened the autonomy of the developing countries;the Western-led global development system has exacerbated the imbalance of global development;and the Western-dominated global development governance system has failed to respond to global problems.In contrast,Chinese modernization provides a new approach to global development.It focuses on the three major issues of"what kind of development to achieve,""how to develop"and"for whom to develop,"which is advocating comprehensive and sustainable development,emphasizing independent and peaceful development,and focusing on people's well-being and the common development of people from all countries.Looking to the future,Chinese modernization can exert the following impacts on the transformation of the global development system:reshape the structure of power in global development and promote the development of the global development pattern towards multi-polarization;promote the coordinated development of the existing and incremental institutions of global development,and promote the democratization process of the global development system;lead the innovation of the global development concept with the concept of a community with a shared future for mankind,enhance the awareness and initiative of the countries of the global South for independent development,and consolidate the shared concept of jointly safeguarding the interests and responsibilities of global sustainable development.
