Research on Building a Future-Oriented New Type of China-South Korea Bilateral Economic and Trade Relations under the Background of RCEP
On the basis of analyzing the development process and current situation of bilateral economic and trade cooperation between China and South Korea, this paper conducts a thorough examination of the underlying factors influencing the structural change and further development of bilateral trade between China and South Korea. The main contents of the study include:constructing a four-dimensional(i.e.,product structure, trade interde-pendence,trade competitiveness, and new trade impetus)analytical framework for explaining the development of bilateral trade cooperation between China and South Korea, especially analyzing the influencing path of the Region-al Comprehensive Economic Partnership(RCEP)on the four trade factors abovementioned as well as the develo-ping trend of the trade reversal between China and South Korea. The study finds that the fundamental reason for China-South Korea trade reversal is the convergence of China-South Korea trade structure. This shift is under-scored by the increasing competitiveness and the progressive weakening of complementarity of China-South Korea bilateral trade.Based on the study's findings, this paper examines the new opportunities and novel challenges brought by the RCEP agreement to China-South Korea economic and trade cooperation, and presents strategic rec-ommendations for building a future-oriented new type of China-South Korea economic and trade relations in the context of the evolving international political and economic landscape.
