Does the Innovation of the Service Trade System Enhance the Resilience of Regional Industrial Chains?—Evidence from Pilot Projects for the Innovative Development of the Service Trade
Industrial chain resilience is an important support and guarantee for accelerating the construction of a modern industrial system. The innovation of the service trade system, characterized by the comprehensive deepe-ning of pilot projects for the innovative development of the service trade, plays an important role in mitigating in-dustrial chain security risks and enhancing industrial chain resilience. This article takes the comprehensive deepening of pilot projects for the innovative development of the service trade as a quasi-natural experiment, using the stag-gered difference-in-differences method and urban panel data to explore the impact of the pilot projects on regional industrial chain resilience. The research results reveal that the pilot projects can significantly enhance regional indus-trial chain resilience, and this enhancement is achieved by improving substantive innovation, optimizing the institu-tional business environment, and promoting regional agglomeration development. The impact of the pilot projects on regional industrial chain resilience is stronger in coastal regions, regions with high government support, and service industry-dominated regions. In addition, with the increase of geographical distance, the spillover effect of the pilot projects on enhancing the resilience of surrounding regions'industrial chains exhibits a nonlinear trend of initially decreasing, then increasing, and finally decreasing again. This article provides empirical evidence for a comprehensive and profound understanding of the role of the innovation of the service trade system and also offers new perspectives and ideas for enhancing the resilience and security level of China's industrial chains.
