Western People's Attention to Chinese Agriculture in the Late Qing Dynasty:Centered on The Chinese Repository
In the late Qing Dynasty,China received widespread attention from foreigners.There have been many reports on the development of agriculture in China published in the The Chinese Re-pository.The reports on crop cultivation in various provinces and regions of China in the late Qing Dynasty are relatively detailed,with clear reports on specific crop cultivation methods and process-ing processes.Newspaper editors have thoroughly explored crops with high economic benefits in China at that time,and have published a special topic in the The Chinese Repository.Through studying the agricultural reports in The Chinese Repository,it was found that in the mid-19th cen-tury,Western people focused on the agricultural production profile and crops that could generate e-conomic benefits in China in the late Qing Dynasty.The reasons for this focus were manifold,which were related to the purpose of running the newspaper,the identity of the editor of the news-paper,and the difficulty of obtaining information about China's social situation.
