On the Relief Activities of the CPC in the 1942 Henan Famine
In 1942,Henan suffered a rare famine in history,affecting millions of people.In the face of serious famine,the CPC took a series of disaster relief measures in the Shanxi Hebei Shandong Henan base area,while the Kuomintang government also carried out disas-ter relief.The CPC actively raised funds in the disaster relief in Henan Province,properly resettled the victims,implemented the policy of"rent reduction and interest reduction",a-dopted work for relief,and created a disaster relief model of social relief and production self-help,which formed a sharp contrast with the passive disaster relief of the Kuomintang government.This disaster relief not only improved the social influence of the CPC,but also accumulated valuable experience in disaster relief,and also revealed the inevitability of the CPC to gain power.
