Kuangfan's Nongwu Nvgong Tu and Farming and Weaving Pictures in the Daily-use Books in Ming Dynasty
There are still some disputes in academia on whether Kuang Fan is the author of Nongwu Nvgong Tu and whether the farming and weaving pictures in daily-use books de-rived from Bianmin Tuzuan.Based on its textual research with reference to the study of bib-liology,history of books and history of technology, the article concludes that there never ex-ited any edition of Nongwu Nvgong Tu earlier than Bianmin Tuzuan. In fact,Kuang Fan is the author of Nongwu Nvgong Tu.The mode of"Gengzhi Tu+Bamboo Branch Songs"in-itiated by him was considered by men of letters in the Ming dynasty another innovation fol-lowing Lou Shou's mode.Later,as Bianmin Tuzuan was reprinted by Jianyang Publishing House,Nongwu Nvgong Tu therein became the origin of the pictures of farming and wea-ving and Bamboo Branch Songs on agriculture in many daily use books in the mid and late Ming dynasty. This conclusion could be verified by both forewords to Nongwu Nvgong Tu and Bamboo Branch Songs on agriculture in daily-use books at the time.
