Research on patent benchmarking between China and G7 countries
Patent is an important reference index to measure a country's independent innovation capacity and scientific and technological competitiveness. This paper aims to comprehensively benchmark the patent situation between China and G7 countries in terms of patent application, authorization, technology field, patent quality, etc.,and constructs a"2-dimensional-6-indicator"patent quality evaluation index system based on the two dimensions of patent text quality and patent technology quality. On this basis,a preliminary assessment of patent quality between China and the G7 countries was conducted. The evaluation results show that although China has completely surpassed the G7 countries in the number of patents, the quality of invention patents of the G7 countries as a whole is significantly ahead of China. It is suggested that China should continue to deepen the reform of intellectual property systems and mechanisms, and highlight the role of globalization and support services for scientific and technological innovation;secondly, patent work should emphasize both quantity and quality, and coordinated development;and thirdly,it is necessary to strengthen the global patent layout of core key technologies as well as technologies in the field of fierce market competition.
