Since its launch in 2007,"Chinese Ancient Book Protection Plan"has gradually established a rela-tively complete protection mechanism and graded protection system for ancient books nationwide through the ap-plication and selection of the National List of Precious Ancient Books and the"National Key Protection Units for Ancient Books".On the basis of defining the concept of classification,the article provides a detailed overview of the historical evolution and practical work of ancient book classification and protection in China.It is found that China has initially established a classification and protection system for ancient books,greatly improved the stor-age environment for ancient books,and fully transformed and utilized the achievements of ancient book classifi-cation and protection.On this basis,it is suggested to solidify the existing system of graded protection of ancient books in the form of legislation;make clear protection measures an important part of China's legislation on the protection of ancient books;establish multi-channel funding methods,clarify the path and incentive measures for social forces to participate in the graded protection of ancient books in legislation.1 fig.2 tabs.19 refs.
