The Adjustment of Russia's Space Policy and China-Russia Space Cooperation
Since the Ukraine crisis erupted in 2014,Russia has continuously adjusted its space policy in response to the new threats to its national security, the new challenges posed by Western sanctions, and the new pressures from space competition among major powers.Meanwhile,Russia has been strengthening state control of space activities, enhancing defense capabilities in space, developing independent innovation, and expanding multi-faceted space cooperation. At present and for a period of time in the future, the development of Russia's space power will be constrained by the state-led model, the comprehensive Western sanctions, and major-power space competition.Space cooperation is an integral part of China-Russia comprehensive strategic partnership of coordination. The enhancement of China's space capabilities coupled with the deterioration of Russia's external environment will boost momentum for more in-depth bilateral cooperation in the area.
