Enhancing Total Factor Productivity and Promoting High-Quality Growth of Economy
Since the reform and opening up,China has further narrowed the gap in GDP per capita with high-income countries and become an upper middle income country.At this new stage of development,China needs to implement the new development philosophy completely,accurately and comprehensively,accelerate the construction of a new development pattern,and maintain high-quality economic growth.High-quality economic growth requires effective qualitative improvement and reasonable quantitative growth.This paper makes a comparative analysis of the characteristics of economic growth across countries whose per capita GDP exceeds 10,000 U.S.dollars,and points out that the most important factor for economic growth is the improvement of total factor productivity.Based on such analysis,the paper puts forward policy suggestions on how to improve China's total factor productivity for the high-quality development of the country's economy.
