The Historical Process of Modernization in Central and Eastern European Countries and Its Influencing Factors
Central and Eastern European(CEE)countries have a special character in the process of modernization and development in the world. On the one hand, due to the long-term existence under the shadow of great powers, the construction of nation-states and the path of modernization and development of these countries are often influenced or even determined by different great powers. On the other hand, because of the diversity and complexity of nations, cultures and history,as well as the fragility of the identity of the various parts in the region, these countries have been going back and forth between different paths of modernization ever since their nation-states were established. The modernization course of the CEE countries shows that modernization is a trend of countries moving forward, but the timing and content needs to be combined with national characteristics and respond to the requirements of the times, and moreover,it needs a stable internal environment and a favorable external environment.
