Development Model Options for Catching-up Countries
This article dissects and discusses several major issues in the process of promoting economic growth,social development,and democratic political system in later developing countries.First,it analyzes the three major challenges confronted by later developing countries and discusses two redeeming features of these country.Secondly,it analyzes the characteristics of the government-led modernization process in the later developing countries.Thirdly,it takes a comparative analysis of the impact of different governance systems on the modernization process from the perspective of structural functions.Finally,this article concludes with a consecutive three-phase division of national development path under the neo-authoritarian model,that is,giving priority to economic development,attaching importance to social development,and strengthening the construction of democratic politics.
