Agricultural and forestry economic management is the most closely related discipline in the national discipline catalog to the rural revitalization strategy. This paper systematically elaborated on the necessity of promoting the cross integration of agricultural and forestry economic management discipline and related disciplines in the new era of major strategic needs for rural revitalization, and clarified the areas that secondary disciplines of agricultural and forestry economic management need to focus on in response to national major strategic needs. The results indicate that the rural revitalization strategy provides opportunities and challenges for the discipline of agricultural and forestry economic management to serve the major strategic needs of the country. The characteristics of agricultural economics, the complexity of the issues related to agriculture, rural areas, and farmers,as well as the systematic nature of rural revitalization strategies and the challenging goals and tasks, drove the deep integration of agricultural and forestry economic management with other disciplines. In response to the transformation of agricultural and rural development and the demand for innovative development in disciplines, the talent training model for agricultural and forestry economic management needs to strengthen the integration of multiple disciplines such as science, engineering, and management.
