China's international prestige and developing strategy have raised new requirements on college English teaching,and the professional identity of college English teachers plays a key part in the implementation of such new requirements.This study systematically reviews the development trends,theoretical positions,research themes and research methods of China's research on the professional identity of college English teachers.Through comparison with international research on related subjects,it is found that Chinese research in this area is still in an emerging stage with a small research amount,single theoretical position,limited research topics and immature research methods.Based on this status quo,this study suggests the prospects of research from the three aspects of theoretical positions,research topics and research methods.
