In recent years,based on the Belt and Road Initiative,the number of international students studying in Xinjiang universities has increased from Central Asia,Southeast Asia and African countries along the line.The quality of cultivating international graduate students is facing unprecedented opportunities and challenges.Taking plant protection major in Agriculture College of Shihezi University as an example,this paper analyzed the specific situation of agricultural international students,explored training plans suitable for the characteristics of international students,and conducted research and practice from selection of high-quality student sources,optimization of international student curriculum system,strengthening practical training links,construction of teaching staff,construction of teaching resources and management mechanisms.Through combining with regional advantages and characteristics of this discipline and relying on the international science and technology cooperation base of the Ministry of Science and Technology,we have carried out multiple explorations such as school enterprise oriented cooperation joint education model and the establishment of agricultural major international student training bases,striving to ensure the quality of international talent cultivation.The research goal is to establish a complete quality assurance system for training international graduate students suitable for Xinjiang universities,cultivate a group of high-quality applied and composite international talents,and effectively serve national the Belt and Road Initiative.It also provides a practical basis for Shihezi University and other western universities to conduct research and practice on cultivation mode of international students.
