从课堂到实验的土木工程材料课程英文教学研究

通过课程建设、实践教学与调研,该文从教学内容设计、教学方式实践、考核形式提升和实验环节巩固四个方面探讨土木工程材料英文课程教学的要点,对建设全英文或双语教学提出一些建议.首先,针对中国国情与工程技术特色,需要以中文教材翻译为主,英文原版教材为参考,完成英文教学内容设计,以达到国内与国际技术及标准的统一.由于本课程专业知识点较多、专业词汇较多,需要采取符合学生英文水平的英文教学方式,以保证在牢固构建专业知识体系的基础上,进行英文的学习与拓展.作业可以采用英文方式,但英文考核则需要必要的中文说明,以同时考查学生的专业知识体系与专业英语水平.实验课授课过程中,建议采用中英混合的方式,着重讲解与实验设备、方法及标准有关的专业英文,减少使用过于口语化的英文表达.
Based on course development,trail lectures and survey,the content,teaching method,evaluation,and lab course were investigated to establish Civil Engineering Material course.Firstly,the content should be built by translating the Chinese textbook and specifications by referring the English textbook to make sure the Chinese engineering practices and characteristics are retained in the course.Because of the large amount of knowledge and terminologies,it is suggested to conduct the full-English teaching considering the English level of the students to ensure the knowledge system of following course.Homework can be done in English,but English quizzes require necessary Explanations in Chinese to examine both the students'professional knowledge and English level.For the English-teaching lab course,Chinese is necessary to explain professional English related to experimental objects,equipment,methods and standards,to reduce the use of speaking English.
