College English course not only undertakes the task of cultivating college students'comprehensive ability of language application in listening,speaking,writing and translation,but should also carry out cross-cultural education and serve the overseas publicity of Chinese cultures.With contents excerpted from Western newspapers,magazines,books,etc,Chinese cultures are covered little in college English textbooks.By applying comparative analysis,teachers can naturally introduce some Chinese cultures related to cultural elements in the textbooks,such as Chinese name culture,food culture,professional ethics and themes of the times,into College English course.Thus,students can be guided to cultivate patriotic sentiment,establish harmonious idea,expand professional dedication and enhance political identification.The educational value of comparative analysis in ideological and political teaching of College English course can be demonstrated in the following three aspects,helping cultivating students'critical thinking ability,helping forming students'correct values and making up for the lack of Chinese cultural elements in College English textbooks.
