Under the background of the rapid development of geographic information technology,it has become an important task for China's higher education to cultivate high-quality GIS professionals with critical thinking and innovative ability.Taking the geographic information science major of Central South University as an example,this paper analyzes the problems existing in the current GIS talent training from the aspects of teaching methods,curriculum system and practical teaching.On this basis,a critical thinking driven innovative ability cultivation model was explored around methods such as multi course collaboration,"curriculum innovation competition"through training mode,interdisciplinary network training,and project-based teaching guided by real problems.The practice results show that the model has achieved remarkable results,which can provide some reference for related majors in other universities.
