With the in-depth advancement of the"Double First-Class"initiative,enhancing undergraduate students'enthusiasm for subject competitions has become a significant direction in higher education reform.Taking the Civil Engineering major at Zhejiang Sci-Tech University as an example,this study conducts a comprehensive investigation into the current situation,existing problems,and influencing factors of undergraduate students'participation in subject competitions through questionnaire surveys and data analysis.The study finds that students'enthusiasm for subject competitions is influenced by various factors,including a lack of understanding of the competitions,insufficient guidance and support,and concerns about the time and effort required for preparation.Based on these findings,this paper proposes a series of strategies and measures aimed at establishing a scientific competition management system,strengthening competition awareness,enhancing teacher training and guidance,and optimizing incentive mechanisms.The implementation of these measures is expected to improve students'overall quality,promote the teaching quality of the Civil Engineering major,and contribute to the Double First-Class.
