This study focuses on the role of English debate course in cultivating college students'critical thinking in the context of new liberal arts,and explores how to build a high-level,innovative and challenging English debate teaching model.The research emphasizes"problem-driven learning",which aims to cultivate students'thinking ability,practical ability and self-learning ability,and reflect the concept of people-oriented and student-centred education.It concludes that the course design of'problem-thinking-exploration'for English debating can enhance students'ability in critical thinking to meet the educational needs of the new era.
