A Helpless Choice:A New Exploration on the Campaign against the Publishing Law in the Press(1922-1926)
In the early and middle 1920s,the press launched a large-scale campaign against the Publishing Law for the reason that the authorities used the law to destroy the freedom of the news and speech.Through collective resistance,a special form of communication with the government,it achieved the goal of repealing the law,but influenced by realities and changes in the political situation,it didn't realize the ultimate target of maintaining professional freedom.Nonetheless, such a result made the press rethink the movement and begin to break its traditional understanding of news legal system and provided the conditions for opening the press legislation again. In essence, the resistance movement could do little to deny the press legal system, but was the only choice that it can choose under the great pressure of the Realistic environment.
