The Defensive Space form of the Yangzhou Ancient City in the Southern Song Dynasty
In the war between the Southern Song Dynasty and Mongolia and Jin Dynasty,as Yangzhou Ancient City was located in the north of the Yangtze River and the hinterland of the Huainan-Huaibei areas,facing the national capital Lin'an across the river,it became a strategic military center to protect Lin'an,the capital of the country.In combination with relevant archaeological reports and local chronicles of Yangzhou City,this paper studies the defense history and evolution of Yangzhou City,analyzes the multi-level defense space of the ancient city in war zone,landscape,city wall,street and architecture,and demonstrates the multi-dimensional military defense space characteristics of Yangzhou City with three cities connected in series.
