Thoughts on Speeding Up the Development of National Secu-rity as an Academic Discipline and the Training of Profession-als
This paper provides several suggestions for building the newly launched first-level discipline of national security studies,with a focus on the need to uphold a holistic approach to national security as the overarching principle.It also emphasizes that we should study and resolve major prac-tical problems confronting China's national security in light of the needs of our country and society,and in a spirit of innovation and creativity,explore the characteristics of the discipline of national security studies and the building of its theoretical base and systemic architecture.Relevant colleges and universities should fully harness their own advantages in terms of disciplines and teachers in the construction of sub-disci-plines in national security-related academic fields and the education of first-class talents in national security studies.Moreover,this paper proposes ten recommendations for developing national security studies into a first-class academic discipline,which include giving full play to the role of think tanks in efforts to provide theoretical and talent support for the safeguarding of China's national security.
