Peace is the eternal aspira-tion of mankind and a prerequisite for all development and progress.With the profound transformation of globalization and the accelerating changes unseen in a century,world peace and development are faced with many serious challenges and threats,accompanied by increased insta-bility and uncertainty in the international situation.Peace deficit is a term used to describe the situation in which the reality of the international community fails to sat-isfy people's needs and expectations for peace.Characterized by diversity,stub-bornness,proliferation,and ambiguity,peace deficit manifests itself in the resur-gence of the Cold War mentality,the intensification of major-country competi-tion,the frequent occurrence of transna-tional disputes and hotspot conflicts,the persistence of extremist forces,the global scourge of terrorism,the continuous increase of international refugees,and the intractability of humanitarian crises.The roots of the global peace deficit we face today lie mainly in the worldwide expan-sion of capitalism,various forms of hege-monism and power politics,the inherent flaws of Western culture and mindsets,governance capacity deficiencies or even failures in certain countries,and the increased inadequacy and imbalance in global development.Over the years,China's peaceful development has added to the momentum for world peace.By fostering changes in mindset to strengthen the ideological foundation for safeguard-ing world peace,sticking to the path of peaceful development to build a strong pillar for long-lasting world peace,uphold-ing the authority and central role of the United Nations to promote the building of a global collective security mechanism,advocating a new international political and economic order to create a systemic environment for long-lasting global peace,cultivating a world culture of peace,and spearheading the building of a community with a shared future for mankind,China has been contributing its wisdom and strength to world peace and development.
