Reflections on Paradigm Inno-vation in Building the Discipline of National Security Studies
National security studies are a typical interdisciplinary field that crosses different disciplines,systems,domains,and mindsets.To build a disci-pline with such a large span,we need to break the traditional pattern and construct a new paradigm by adopting new perspec-tives,methodologies,and norms.Thus,the discipline can generate benefits at the fastest pace from a fresh starting point and can better serve national security in practice.Based on an analysis of the characteristics and discipline-building experience of other interdisciplinary fields,this article proposes an overall design for paradigm innovation in building the discipline of national security studies and raises ideas and suggestions on advancing such discipline building by setting up a"special disciplinary zone."
