Systematic Thinking and a Holistic Approach to National Security
Systematic thinking re-quires us to observe and understand things and problems from a holistic,comprehen-sive,and integrated perspective.Adhering to systematic thinking is one of the most striking theoretical characteristics of a holistic approach to national security and,at the same time,an important method-ological principle of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era.This principle has remained unchanged in the proposals from Five Key Elements and Five Relationships to Ten Upholds and then to Five Balances.Its effects can be felt everywhere,from the establishment of a centralized,highly efficient,and authoritative leadership system for national security to the new achievements made in the safeguarding and shaping of China's national security in the new era.Systematic thinking affords us the ways and methods for understand-ing a holistic approach to national security,which in turn provides operational guide-lines for our mastery and use of such thinking.Therefore,an in-depth analysis of the basic logic,scientific meaning,and core essence of systematic thinking will help us advance the building of a national security theory with Chinese characteris-tics,facilitate our appreciation of the theoretical position of a holistic approach to national security in Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism for a New Era,and contribute to our endeavors to rejuvenate the Chinese nation on the path of national security with Chinese characteristics.
