Theoretical Thinking on De-signing the Global Security Architecture
The Global Security Initia-tive(GSI)put forward by China has gar-nered worldwide attention, and the design of the global security architecture,as part of the GSI,has become an important field of national security studies. In the current era of radically changing international relations, the world is facing a growing deficit in security. Therefore, designing a relatively universal security architecture for the whole world will increasingly gain salience on the agenda of various academ-ic disciplines, notably national security studies, international relations, and political science.Based on the thoughts and theories of a holistic approach to national security, this paper discusses the supportive factors that contribute to global security systematically, structurally, and behaviorally, before setting out some preliminary thinking on the global securi-ty architecture.Through a summarization and comparison of the existing security architecture, this paper argues that the deficiencies of the United Nations collec-tive security modality should be overcome and the damage from exclusive security alliances represented by the North Atlan-tic Treaty Organization avoided.More-over,the design should focus on the universal security required by humanity as a community with a shared future and broaden the scope of the global security architecture by incorporating systematic, structural, and behavioral factors into its consideration.
