Analysis on the Public Security Risks Involved in Crowd Crush-es and Relevant Governance
Recently,the world has witnessed large-scale crowd crushes in several countries,which caused severe casualties and rang the alarm bell once again concerning public security gover-nance.One prime example is the deadly crush that occurred during Halloween festivities in the Itaewon neighborhood of Seoul,South Korea.This tragedy,partly attributable to the easing of COVID-19 restrictions,is of great practical signifi-cance and calls for vigilance.Following a holistic approach to national security,this article intends to summarize the key lessons learned from the prevention and handling of crowd crushes in other coun-tries;analyze the challenges that render predicting or preventing such disasters highly difficult;and make some prelimi-nary comments on strengthening public security awareness,improving public secu-rity governance,and preventing similar occurrences in the future.
