Test of Stress State of Tunnel Secondary Lining by Hydraulic Cushion Method and Comparisons with Design Values
During construction of the Bar-Boljare Highway Project in Montenegro, the multiple extensometersand the rock bolts for axial force monitoring are either not installed,or installed with insufficient quantity or not timely installed. The Technical Acceptance Committee of the Employer required to obtain actual stress testing results to analyze and verify the safety and stability of the tunnels,as well as to proof that the Main Design calculation envelop covers the actual stress state. In order to satisfy the Employer's requirement, the Contractor has invited a qualified third party institute to test the stress state of the tunnel secondary lining by using hydraulic cushion method on the flat-jack,and compare the obtained results with the Main Design values, which eliminates the doubts from the Employer. In the paper, the testing procedure is described and the results are analyzed.Such method of solving technical dispute by testing based verification could provide valuable reference for Chinese companies when engaging in the"Belt and Road"projects construction in Europe.
