Research on Application of Environment-friendly Shield Residue Road Base Material
Taking shield residue in Nanjing area as the research object, the shield residue is solidified with self-developed curing agent, and the feasibility of solidifying shield residue as pavement base material is explored through a series of tests including compaction test, compressive strength test, compressive resilience modulus test, dry shrinkage test and freeze-thaw cycle test. The results show that the addition of curing agent could greatly improve the engineering characteristics of shield residue. When the curing agent content is 8%,12%,and 15%,the optimal water content of each soil is 17%,18.4%,19.1%,and the maximum dry density is 1.77 g/cm3,1.69 g/cm3,1.64 g/cm3,respectively.It is found that the mechanical properties, dry shrinkage properties and freeze-thaw resistance of the shield residue solidified by the curing agent are obviously better than those of the cement solidified soil. The higher the curing agent content is,the better the road performance is.The research results can further promote the resource utilization of shield residue in road engineering, and the economic benefits of using as road base material are more significant than that of using as subgrade filler.
