Deformation Characteristics and Evolution Law of Deep Silt Deposition under Embankment Loading
Surcharge loading in deep silt deposition areas can cause lateral deformation of the ground, which may cause adverse effects on the adjacent infrastructure.Taking the deep silt deposition conditions of the Nanshan-Zhongshan Expressway in Guangdong Province asthe background,a large-scale in-situ loading test is carried out and the lateral deformation curves of the silt deposition under loading are obtained.Combining the results of laboratory experiments and in situ tests, the numerical model is established to reflect the natural in situ mechanical characteristics of the ground, and the rationality of the numerical model has been verified by the monitoring results from in-situ loading tests.Numerical simulation methods are used to analyze the deformation and additional stress distribution of the deep silt deposition under surcharge loading, and the numerical results reveal that the lateral deformation of the ground is mainly caused by the extremely weak soil entering the plastic yielding and causing sustained lateral flow. Therefore,it is very important to establish a parameter distribution mode in the numerical model that can reflect the relationship between the in-situ strength properties of the ground and the burial depth.Through parameter analysis, the influences of the deposition thickness and the overload on lateral deformation of the ground are studied,in order to provide reference experience for evaluating the impact of surcharge loading projects in deep silt deposition areas.
