Route Guidance Strategy for Expressway Under the Influence of Traffic Incidents Considering Road Network Performance
As traffic demand rapidly increases, the frequency and severity of expressway congestion grow, and will spread to adjacent roads and affecting local road networks.Traffic diversion measures are important strategies for alleviating congestion and balancing vehicle flow at the network level. The highway path guidance strategy is proposed based on minimizing redundancy under traffic incident, taking into account the impact of guidance on the overall network performance. The specific guidance method contains three steps:first, determining the diversion path based on the redundancy index;then, assessing the network capacity to determine the required traffic flow and using Logit allocation to distribute traffic flow to the guided path;finally, using the queue length on the affected road section, travel time reliability on the diverted road section, and regional travel time reliability as evaluation indicators for the implementation effect of the guidance. The guidance strategy is applied to the expressway network in Jinan city by using SUMO simulation. In the simulation, network is established and demand is set firstly, and the effectiveness of the guidance algorithm is evaluated through SUMO.Simulation results show that the guidance method effectively reduces the queue length on the affected road section, increases the total number of vehicles passing through the network, and enhance the reliability of travel time for both road sections and road networks. The study provides a theoretical basis and technical support for the development of highway traffic diversion plans, mitigating the adverse effects of traffic congestion on road networks and enhancing the operational efficiency of the freeway transportation system.
