Study of the Connection between Winter Microclimate and Recreational Behavior in Underpass Green Spaces in Chongqing
Chongqing,a mountainous city,is featured with limited sunlight and high relative humidity in winter. The corner spaces under overpass bridges are often built into green spaces for the recreation and exercise of residents.By examining the microclimate characteristics and recreational activities in two riverside underpass green spaces in Chongqing during both sunny and rainy winter days and exploring their relationship,it is found that the fluctuation range of microclimatic conditions and thermal comfort in different landscape spaces in Chongqing during the winter is smaller than in the summer. The underpass green space has a high relative humidity of 80%or more on rainy days in winter, and most of the space is physically cold.Although overpass shadow spaces reduce solar radiation, temperature, and thermal comfort, their usage is less affected by the weather. On rainy weekends, there are more users compared to sunny weekdays, and in the winter, regardless of whether it's sunny or rainy, the utilization rate of overpass shadow spaces with higher thermal comfort is higher.Comfort design strategies for underpass green spaces in winter are proposed in order to improve the utilization of underpass green spaces from the perspective of microclimate adaptation.
