Construction and Validation of a Multilevel Leadership Development Model:An Exploratory Study Based on Grounded Theory
Leadership development is crucial for the development of human resources and the cultivation of leaders within organizations. However, there has been ongoing debate in research regarding the specific content of leadership development and how to effectively validate developmental outcomes. This study employs the research methodology of grounded theory and conducts in-depth interviews and on-site research with Company A,which is currently implementing a leadership development program.Drawing from the multilevel framework of developing self, developing team, and developing organization,a leadership development model containing six core elements is constructed, including"being""doing""subordinate development""team cohesion""organizational management"and"performance management".This study further compares this six-element model with the"Direction-Alignment-Commitment"(DAC)model.In conclusion, the study found that"developing self"inspires commitment,"developing team"generates direction, collaboration, and commitment, and"developing organization"facilitates direction and alignment. This provides validation for the effectiveness of the proposed leadership development model.
