Effect of Different Scale Inhibitor Functional Groups on Crystallization of Desulfurized Gypsum
In order to evaluate the effect of different circulating water scale inhibitors on the quality of desulfurized gypsum, six single-component scale inhibitors containing specific functional groups were selected for nucleation and growth experiments, and their effects on the crystallization process of gypsum were studied. In the nucleation experiment, scale inhibitors containing sulfonic acid group can shorten the induction time of gypsum crystallization by 3.2%,and sulfonic acid group can increase the supersaturation of calcium sulfate, which is conducive to gypsum nucleation.Phosphonic acid group and carboxyl group scale inhibitors can prolong the induction time of gypsum crystallization by 6.5%-45.2%and inhibit gypsum nucleation. In the growth experiment, the size of gypsum was reduced by 30.3%by sulfonic acid group-containing scale inhibitor, and the fine gypsum crystals were increased.Phosphonic acid group and carboxylic group scale inhibitor make gypsum particle size increases by 21.5%-72.6%,causing gypsum morphology distortion and flake twin.Phosphonic acid group and carboxylic group can change the growth rate of gypsum in specific position through adsorption, which distorts gypsum and is conducive to gypsum growth. Therefore, the scale inhibitor containing carboxyl functional group has the least negative effect on the quality of gypsum, and is more suitable to be used as the scale inhibitor of circulating water under the background of zero discharge of wastewater in the whole plant.
