Expressway Lane Management and Traffic Capacity Analysis under Mixed Flow and Connected Environment
In order to improve the capacity of two-way four-lane expressway in the connected environment with mixed flow,it is necessary to formulate lane management strategies according to traffic flow and connected and automated vehicle(CAV)permeability.Aiming at the idle waste of CAV dedicated lanes in the low CAV penetration environment, the CAV priority lanes is proposed.Firstly, the fundamental diagram of mixed traffic flow is derived by the classic car following model, and then the capacity models of human-driving vehicle(HV)dedicated lane,CAV dedicated lane, mixed lane and CAV priority lane are constructed.Next, the applicable demand range of different lane combination strategies expressway is analyzed. Then, based on SUMO simulation platform, the performance of the CAV priority lane under the environment of two-way four-lane freeway is analyzed, meanwhile, the traffic capacity and application range of different lane combination strategies are verified by simulation,in addition, the lane combination strategies are compared from the perspective of efficiency, safety and energy consumption. The result shows that(1)in terms of adaptability, when CAV ratio p≤0.5,the strategy of two mixed lanes can meet the largest demand range, followed by the CAV priority lane, and the CAV dedicated lane is the smallest;(2)in terms of efficiency, when p≤0.5,the efficiency of CAV dedicated lane is the worst, but the CAV priority lane performs well, and the smaller p is,the more efficiency improvement of CAV priority lanes is;(3)in terms of safety and energy consumption, the CAV dedicated lane performs better in energy consumption and safety, followed by CAV priority lane;(4)when p>0.5,the comprehensive performance of CAV dedicated lane is better;(5)when multiple lane management strategies are feasible, compared with the strategy of 2 mixed lanes, taking other lane management measures can achieve good effects in safety and emissions;(6)when demand D≤2500 veh/h and p≤0.5,CAV priority lane strategy can not only meet the traffic demand, reduce energy consumption, but also make better use of road resources and achieve a balanced performance.
