Study on Asphalt Mixture Self-healing Performance Based on Microwave Heating
As a new volume heating form, microwave heating has been widely used in food, ceramics and other industries because of its fast, uniform and energy-saving heating characteristics;however,it is still in the exploration and research stage in the field of early road maintenance. This paper summarizes the research progress of asphalt mixture self-healing performance based on microwave heating, and summarizes the research status of self-healing theory of asphalt materials, microwave heating mechanism, microwave heating materials, and influencing factors of asphalt mixture self-healing.The summary and analysis show that due to the asphalt composition, microstructure and complex interactions, the healing mechanism of asphalt materials is not yet completely clear;however, the crack surface molecular diffusion theory, crack surface energy theory and capillary flow theory are able to characterize the self-healing properties of asphalt materials very well under certain limiting conditions. The microwave heating is an efficient and environmental friendly self-healing heat induction form of asphalt mixture. The self-healing performance of asphalt mixture can be improved by adding steel chips, steel slag, carbon black, ferrite particles and other microwave heating absorbing materials. The self-healing performance of asphalt mixture is affected by microwave characteristics, asphalt performance, asphalt mixture type, external environment and other factors. The external environment has the most significant effect on the self-healing properties of asphalt mixture. The self-healing performance of asphalt mixture significantly decreases when the optimal heating time exceeds. The water content is too high and the damage degree is large. Finally, from the perspective of practical engineering, the problems faced by engineering application of microwave heating asphalt mixture self-healing performance were analyzed, and its application prospects were prospected.
