Objective To explore the distribution of zang-fu meridians in insomnia patients by traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)meridians detector. Methods The study collected the zang-fu meridians information of 128 insomnia patients in Zigong Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine between April 2023 and February 2024.A TCM meridians detector(model JK-02)was utilized for data collection, and a questionnaire-based survey on TCM syndromes was conducted. The aim was to analyze the correlation between the TCM syndromes of insomnia patients and the state of their zang-fu meridians. Results Among the abnormal meridians in insomnia patients, the liver meridian was the most frequently observed, followed by the stomach, gallbladder, and heart meridians. In cases of deficiency syndrome, the spleen meridian was the most commonly affected, followed by the pericardium, kidney, and gallbladder meridians. There was a statistically significant difference in the distribution of meridians between the empirical and deficiency syndromes(P<0.001).The predominant manifestations of TCM syndromes included fatigue(55.66%),waist and knee pain(54.72%),dizziness and distending pain(53.77%),as well as irritability(51.89%).Conclusion The occurrence of insomnia is associated with the imbalance of zang-fu organ meridians.Specifically, the abnormal meridians primarily involve the liver, stomach, and gallbladder, whereas the deficiency syndromes are predominantly related to the spleen, pericardium, and kidney. The manifestations of these syndromes align with the findings derived from meridian theory.
