Construction of Information Literacy System for the Elderly Based on Principal Component Analysis
In order to construct an information literacy system for the elderly and help them improve their information literacy level,a group of elderly people over 60 years old was selected as the research object, and their information literacy was surveyed using a self-made scale. Then, principal component analysis was used to reduce the 23 information literacy indicators of the elderly to 3 principal component factors. These three principal component factors are independent of each other and can contain most of the information from the original 23 elderly information literacy indicators, making the issue of elderly information literacy concise and clear.By combining the questionnaire content and elaborating on the constituent elements of the three main components, namely information awareness, information skills and information ethics, the information literacy system for the elderly was successfully constructed, providing scientific guidance for them to receive information technology education in the community.
