Term Correlation and Normalization in the English Translation of Fu-Style Titles in Ancient Chinese Books
This paper,taking the translation of the term"fu"in fu-style titles of ancient Chinese books as the research object,and the term correlation as the translation guide,intends to discuss the normative translation of"fu"in the titles of ancient Chinese books.On the basis of a systematic review on the previous English translations of the fu-style book titles,the author proposes that transliteration is a nominative mode of translating"fu"to achieve the standardization and systematization;as for the translation of titles with"fu",on the consideration of its text content,transliteration plus literal translation is the main method,supplemented by alternative translation,supplementary transla-tion,generic translation,reduced translation and general translation.
