Ecological risk assessment of heavy metals in soils around a heavy chemical plant on Donghai Island
In order to understand the impacts of heavy chemical factories on the surrounding soil environment on Donghai Island, collected 26 soil samples around the factories and analyzed the content characteristics of 8 heavy metal elements in the samples using the geoaccumulation index method and the potential ecological risk index method. The results showed that except for Cr,the maximum mass concentrations of As,Cd,Cu,Hg,Ni,Pb and Zn were 15.6,0.116,53.8,0.055,76.1,31.6,103 mg·kg-1,respectively,which did not reach the national risk screening value, indicating that the soil around the Donghai Island heavy chemical plant was mainly contaminated by Cr.All others did not meet the national risk screening value, indicating that they were mainly contaminated by Cr.The average cumulative index of 8 heavy metals is less than 0,which is non-polluting.The analysis of the combined potential risk index concluded that the study area is of slight to moderate ecological risk.Although the impact of industrial development on Donghai Island on heavy metals in the surrounding soil is relatively small,long-term monitoring is needed.
