Preparation and properties of mullite whisker reinforced Al2O3-8YSZ ceramic coatings
Mullite whiskers(3Al2O3·2SiO2)have excellent properties due to their perfect crystallization,such as low thermal expansion and thermal conductivity,high thermal stability,high creep and corrosion resistance,as well as appropriate strength and fracture toughness,which were suitable materials for applications at high temperature and corrosion resistance condition.The preparation and properties of whisker reinforced Al2O3-8YSZ ceramic coatings are discussed.Through the toughening effect of mullite whiskers,the hardness of ceramic coatings is improved,which has a great effect on structural modification.
