Treating 32 Patients with Post-stroke Spastic Hemiplegia by the Combination of Needles and Herbs
Objective:To survey curative effects of the combination of needles and herbs in treating poststroke spastic hemiplegia.Methods:Sixty-two patients were randomized into two groups.Thirty patients in the control group took herbal decoction, and thirty-two patients in the observation group were treated by the combination of needles and herbs, both groups were treated for one month consecutively.Clinical effects,Fugl Meyer scales,Barthel index scales,Pro scales and therapeutic safety of both groups were observed. Results:Total effective rate of the observation group was 96.88%,higher than 86.67% of the control group, and the difference had statistical meaning (P<0.05).The difference was statistically significant in the comparisons of Fugl-Meyer and Barthel index scales before and after treating within two groups (P<0.05),there was a significant difference in the comparison between both groups after treating (P<0.05).The difference had statistical meaning in the comparisons of PRO scales before and after treating within two groups (P<0.05),and there was a significant difference in the comparisons after treating between both groups (P<0.05).No adverse reaction happened during therapeutic period. Conclusion:The combination of needles and herbs show good clinical effects in treating post-stroke spastic hemiplegia, which is helpful to the recovery of the patients with high safety.
