Influence of Morinda Citrifolia Oligosaccharide Joined with Paroxetine on the Expressions of Serum FGF-22 and ACTH in Senile Patients with Depression
Objective:To study the effects of morinda citrifolia oligosaccharide and paroxetine on the expressions of serum FGF-22 and ACTH in patients with depression. Methods:All 160 patients were randomized into the control group and the study group with 80 cases in each group, the control group took paroxetine orally,20 mg each day,and the study group morinda citrifolia oligosaccharide capsules based on Western medicine the control group accepted,0.3 g each time, twice each day.To assess clinical effects after six weeks of treatment;to assess the patients'anxiety using HAMA respectively before and after treatment,to evaluate the patients'depression using HAMD,to detect the levels of IL-1β,TNF-α,FGF-22 and ACTH using ELISA;to observe the patients'incidence of adverse reaction during therapeutic period between both groups. Results:Total effective rate of the study group was 90.00%(72/80),higher than 65.00%(52/80)of the control group(P<0.05).HAMD and HAMA of both groups were lowered after treatment than these before treatment, the study group was lower than the control group(P<0.05).After the treatment, the levels of IL-1β and TNF-α were decreased than these before the treatment, the study group was lower than the control group(P<0.05).After the treatment, the levels of FGF-22 were higher than these before the treatment in both groups, the levels of ACTH were lower than these before the treatment, the improvements of the study group were more noticeable(P<0.05).The incidence of adverse reaction of the study group was 3.75%,lower than 12.50%of the control group(P<0.05).Conclusion:Morinda citrifolia oligosaccharide and paroxetine could improve anxiety and depression, reduce the levels of inflammatory factors such as IL-1β and TNF-α and serum ACTH,raise the levels of FGF-22,and its effects are superior to these of paroxetine with low adverse reactions..
