In light of the records in modern and ancient literature,combined with years of clinical diagnostic and therapeutic experience,professor Zhang Chengpeng holds that the depression is the disease of extraordinary channels and collaterals,the depletion of Yang,the disharmony between shape and spirit as the root cause of the disease,deficiency and stagnation of collaterals,loss of nourishment of heart and brain as the key of the pathogenesis;he puts forward the needling method of"dredging the governor meridian and tranquilizing",with the governor meridian as the core,focusing on treating extraordinary channels and collaterals together and simultaneous regulation of the body and heart,emphasizing"dredging the governor meridian"and"tranquilizing"at the same time.Dredging the governor meridian could benefit the deficiency and remove the stagnation,and improve somatisation symptoms;tranquilizing could regulate and nourish the spirit of heart and brain,and calm the mind.The combination of both methods could effectively relieve the patients'psychosomatic symptoms.
